Organizations posting jobs on CharityVillage will sometimes ask that all candidates be assessed using our personality assessment tool. The assessment takes about ten minutes to complete and only has to be completed once every two years. Our best advice is to take the assessment seriously, do not over think the questions, and be yourself.
The assessment tool used in our application process is called a normative psychometric test. Most of us have taken some sort of personality test in our life, however, not all of these tests are the same and many aren't beneficial when assessing a person's overall fit for a job.
The psychometric test we use is ideal for you, the candidate. The test allows you to respond in a manner by indicating the degree to which you exhibit a given trait. This assessment can also predict performance based on the identification of statistically significant correlations between specific personality profiles and high performance in a specific role.
What this means without all the scientific language is that it allows employers to compare your personality to what’s required to perform a particular job well. The personality assessment we’re using has been in use for thirty years and taken millions of times in hundreds of organizations in more than 20 countries around the world. This is what makes it valid, reliable and accurate.
It's important to note that the organization's who require the assessment as part of the application process do not rely solely on it to identify potential candidates. You will also answer skills and/or experience questions created by the organization pertaining to the role you are applying to, and whether you would be a good fit for their working environment.
